Public Art
"Breaking Earth's Bond"

Redstone Gateway Plaza, Huntsville, Alabama
On November 7, 2013, Dr. Sheree Wen
U.S. National Commissioner to UNESCO
 Presented the UNESCO Art Award
"INSPIRING PEACE AND HUMANITY
THROUGH ART AND SCIENCE"
 to Artist Ulrich Pakker
for his Sculpture Breaking Earth’s Bond

Installed at the gateway to the Redstone Arsenal, where NASA tested the Apollo and Saturn rockets, the work’s narrative traces the path of space exploration.  Trajectory (25-feet tall) soars skyward.  The Bridge (24-feet wide) speaks to the efforts of thousands of scientists  over decades to reach for the stars. Stylized molecules of Hydrazinethe original jet fuel, (varying from 4 to 6-feet wide) are scattered around the base.
