Installed at the Reed Market Rd and 15th Street Roundabout in April 2018
Inspired by
Three Sisters mountain peaks on the western horizon
The crescent moon
Ski jumps off in the ski areas to the west
Birds eye view of the bend in the Deschutes River that gave the town its name
Volcanic peaks of prehistoric times
Tips of the evergreens silhouetted against the clear skies of Eastern Oregon
And what do you see?
Three Rising is fabricated from heavy gauge 316 stainless steel and brushed 304 stainless steel tubing with custom surface finishes, both inside and out.
The three towering sculptures glow after dark from LED lights, powered by solar panels securely mounted in the roundabout. The solar panels also lighten our environmental footprint.
The color of the lights can be changed at will but include purples and blues. The lit-up sculptures are subtle, radiant beacons for both residents and visitors alike.
From a traffic safety point of view, the glowing sculptures make drivers more aware of the roundabout at night.
As people drive around the sculptures, they create a landmark, a sense of place and spark the imagination of every viewer, young and old.
