Ulrich was a finalist for a major public art piece in Edmonton, Alberta last year where he submitted a proposal for Reach, measuring 35 feet in height. Spectacular! Although he did not win that commission, in the process of creating the proposal he discovered a new sculpture material: welded stainless steel mesh. He has created an entirely new series with this fascinating, flexible stainless steel mesh for both tabletop and monumental sculptural works. It involves a Moire pattern, created when someone walks by the sculpture, making the piece seemingly move and shimmer.
